Amit Sadh: Rising from the ashes
Every newcomer in Bollywood has a struggle story to share. From being homeless to surviving on vada pav and chai, most actors have not had it easy in Mumbai. Even superstar Amitabh Bachchan faced repeated rejections and disappointments before finding success with his 13th film Zanjeer. Talented young actor Amit Sadh has had it no different and has worked hard to earn every role that has come his way. Struggling to make ends meet between projects, he has slept on the footpath and even washed dishes. Thankfully, even the most difficult circumstance did not dampen his optimism. Despite being around for 16 years, the 38-year old actor is constantly digging for new and better roles.
Amit started his acting journey in 2002 with the television series Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr and went on to star in other series like Kohinoor, Guns and Roses and Durgesh Nandinii and reality shows Bigg Boss and Nach Baliye. The alumnus of New York’s famous Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute dabbled with all kinds of projects but success and recognition eluded him. A bitter breakup with actress Neeru Bajwa set Amit back emotionally but he internalized his pain and channelized his energies to add intensity to his performances. The actor decided to graduate to the big screen and finally got noticed for his layered performance in the 2013-release Kai Po Che.
The appreciation for his role meant little as Amit had to wait for several months before any new offers came his way. Like the proverbial phoenix, he rose from the ashes in small but significant roles in Sultan, Akira, and Sarkar 3 until he became the lead in Running Shaadi. The actor is currently gathering acclaim for his powerful portrayal of mercurial police officer Kabir Sawant in Amazon Prime Video’s web series Breathe. Amit has certainly come a long way from his troubled past and struggle days and is a name to reckon with.
