Anupam Kher Dittos Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister

The veteran actor who also happens to be one of the most respected celebs in India, Anupam Kher has once again proved his brilliance, and this time, without uttering a word yet! His first look from The Accidental Prime Minister is out and we are literally dumbfounded looking at the uncanny resemblance he bears with our ex-PM, Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The shooting for this upcoming biopic, which is Vijay Ratnakar Gutte’s directorial debut, commenced recently in London. Based on Sanjay Baru’s 2014 memoir by the same name, this film is already making a lot of ‘noise’, despite the silent subject. (pardon my sly innuendo)

Clad in a white kurta with a blue turban, the bespectacled actor with folded hands looked taciturn but aced the look of Manmohan Singh. He took to Twitter on Thursday to share his first look from the movie and drew an amazing response.

“Happy to share my first look of #DrManmohanSingh, India’s Former Prime Minister from the movie #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister directed by #VijayRatnakarGutte & produced by #BohraBrothers. Creative producer is @mehtahansal. Film is based on #SanjayBaru’s book with the same title.”

His fans were quick to applaud the look and were extremely approving of his efforts. However, there were a handful, who took a dig at the actor/movie – or putting it more blatantly, at the ex-PM – and inquired if the movie would be a silent film or would have a few audible dialogues for the protagonist.

All said and done, we think Anupam Kher nailed the look and deserves a 10 on 10! The release date for the movie is December 21, 2018, and we can’t wait to see another superlative performance from the versatile actor who has been trying his best to replicate the character on screen. “I have been internalising this character for the past few months. I look forward to translating that effort into cinematic reality,” added Kher.
