Diljit Dosanjh: One Man, Many Talents
An accomplished actor, a talented singer and now a model, is there anything Bollywood’s recent sensation Diljit Dosanjh cannot do? He has been recently signed up by a leading clothing company as its brand ambassador. Diljit’s mass following in India and among NRI audiences abroad makes him a logical choice for any brand targeting the youth. His legions of fans across the globe follow his films, music and are likely to lap up his style sense.
Diljit’s Bollywood Debut
Diljit broke through the clutter of uninspired Bollywood debuts with his powerful performance as a cop in the 2016-release Udta Punjab. His portrayal of Sartaj Singh, a corrupt police officer who is reformed after a tragedy hits home was widely appreciated. Diljit even took home the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his impressive performance.
His fans remember not just his inspiring portrayal in Udta Punjab but also his rendition of the hit song Ikk Kudi. The singer-actor brought alive the beautiful poetry of Shiv Kumar Batalvi’s with his pitch-perfect singing.
Diljit Continues to Rock!
Diljit’s second Hindi film Phillauri saw him in the title role of singer Roop Lal Phillauri. His convincing portrayal of a folk singer looked every bit natural and won him several accolades. The film gave him another chance to showcase his vocal talent with songs such as Dum Dum and Naughty Billo. Diljit was keen on recording a song or two for his third film Welcome to New York but missed the chance due to the film’s packed schedule. Though Diljit excels at just about everything he does, his first love still remains music and he is keen to sing for all his future films. His fans will not have to wait much longer for his upcoming film, hockey star Sandeep Singh’s biopic Soorma that features a soft, romantic song rendered by Diljit. Written by the legendary Gulzar and composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, the song underscores a softer side of the international hockey sensation
