Director Mukul Reveals a Spooky Coincidence Related to Missing
We have often read and heard actors/directors sharing their spooky experiences while shooting for certain horror films. While some may dismiss these extra-terrestrial experiences as a mere aftermath of sincere role-playing, others believe in the existence of such beings. Whether you belong to the former league or the latter, there are some incidents that have left many scratching their heads to date.
Today’s flavour comes from Mukul Abhyankar, director of the upcoming movie Missing, who talks about a spooky coincidence that led to the birth of his directorial debut.
Mukul recalls how a story he submitted as a part of his final year project (while studying in Germany)
in 1998, took the shape of a true story eight years later. In a similar turn of events, as reported in his story, a British couple lost their four-year-old daughter, Madeleine McCann, under mysterious circumstances in a holiday apartment in Portugal, to never see her again. The girl went missing from her bed on the eve of May 3, 2007, and was never found again.
Known as the “most heavily reported missing-person case in modern history”, the report in The Telegraph read, “Every possible theory has been explored since then: that Madeleine was abducted by a paedophile; that she was killed during a bungled burglary and her body dumped; that she was abducted by traffickers and sold to a childless couple; that she wandered out of the apartment and died in a tragic accident, and many more besides.” All said and done, the case remains unsolved to date.
To make the plot even more intriguing, Mukul has roped in veteran actors like Manoj Bajpayee and Tabu, who he always admired and wanted to work with. The film has hit the theatres on April 6, today, and features Annu Kapoor, who will be playing the role of an investigating officer.
