Esha Deol and chai while shooting for Cakewalk in Kolkata
After detaching herself from the film industry for almost seven years, Esha Deol Takhtani is soon going to be seen in a short film, Cakewalk. The actress chose to take a break from her acting career post marriage and giving birth to a baby girl, Radhya, in October last year. Now that her daughter is a little over five months, Esha found it an apt time to return to the acting world and is currently shooting for Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s directorial debut, Cakewalk.
The Dhoom fame was eager and excited to be shooting in Kolkata as she calls it the city of ‘Dakhineshwari Kali Maa’ and was clicked across various parts of the city, along with the director and co-director, Abhra Chakraborty.
She revealed her love for the city’s music and literature and mentioned her excitement about visiting the place, the details of which she had only read about in the adaptations of Bengali novelists, Sarat Chandra Chatterjee and Rabindranath Tagore.
The film aims to shed light on the personal as well as the professional aspects of a modern woman in the Indian society. Esha will be seen in the role of a married chef in the movie and that was another reason for her ecstasy. The city and its people are known for their love for food, which Esha could relate to while essaying the role of a chef. Though dieting didn’t allow this Deol sibling to enjoy the local cuisine, she did indulge in tea. The actress tasted the famous kulhar wali chai and also won a free ginger tea from a local tea vendor who turned out to be a fan of her dad, the legendary Dharmendra.
Esha took to Instagram and posted a pic of her enjoying tea in a beautiful Indian ensemble, captioning it, “On location in Kolkata shooting for ‘Cakewalk’.” We hope to see more of this charming actress on screen and wish her all the best for her upcoming movie.
