Sui Dhaga: Made in India
Varun and Anushka are first time paired together in Sui Dhaga : Made In India, the trailer of film just out, and it is extraordinary because our duo Varun and Anushka have done their best in the film.
Both Varun and Anushka’s look and dialogue delivery are on point as they convincingly inhabit the lower-middle class world in Ghaziabad that Kataria has created for them. This film in itself is a rarity in Bollywood when it comes to stars playing against type. To be honest, we aren’t surprised that Anushka owned her character of Mamta, but it is heartening to see Varun Dhawan embrace the role of Mauji with open arms.
Raghubir Yadav, who we last saw in Love Per Square Foot, plays Varun’s dad and the father-son banter between the two inevitably reminds you of the relationship between Ayushmaan and his dad (played by Sanjay Mishra) in Dum Laga Ke Haisha. That they’re not so civil interactions happen on the terraces of their modest home add to the throwback to the earlier film.
Varun had recently said that his character, Mauji in the film is inspired by Suppandi. He essays the role of a tailor and an office peon in the film. Rustic and rooted, the trailer promises an earthy and heartwarming story of pride and self reliance.
“From Gandhiji to Modiji, our country’s leaders have always endorsed the mantra of Made In India. With Sui Dhaaga,
The film also brings together National Award-winning producer-director duo of Sharma and Sharat Katariya, the team that won over the audience with their first collaboration Dum Laga Ke Haisha.
The Yash Raj Films’ Sui Dhaaga – Made in India pairs up Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma for the first time on-screen and the much-awaited trailer is here. Written and directed by Sharat Katariya and produced by Maneesh Sharma, the film is set to release on 28 September.
