Shahid Kapoor to Box in Krishna Menon’s Next

Movies based on the sports genre have always managed to rock in Bollywood. Be it fictional stories like Chak De! India, Sultan, and Lagaan, or biopics like Dangal, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Mary Kom, sports-based films have never failed to impress us. Many actors and actresses, including Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra, have toiled to get into the role for such movies and now it is Shahid Kapoor’s turn to ace the sportsman look.

The impressed director

As per reports, the Padmaavat actor has signed a film with Raja Krishnan Menon, the director of Airlift and Chef. Allegedly, Menon had met Shahid on the sets of Udta Punjab and expressed his interest in casting him in one of his movies, to which the actor had agreed. The two have been working on the idea for some time now and if the sources are to be believed, the talented actor will be seen playing the role of a boxer in the movie, which is based on a true story.

Praises for Shahid

Shahid has already proved his worth in his preceding movies and was recently presented with the Dada Saheb Phalke Excellence Awards for his immaculate performance in Padmaavat. The Jab We Met star has never been scared of challenges and playing a sportsman on a 70 mm screen was one of the roles he was vying for. But it goes without saying that he will have to work really hard for this.

“Shahid is doing a sports-based film with Raja. He wanted to explore that space for quite some time. He plays a boxer who emerges triumphant against all odds in his life. He needs to have a particular physique to play the character convincingly and learn the techniques of boxing,” a source told DNA.

The actor is currently busy shooting for Batti Gul Meter Chalu in Uttarakhand where he will be seen opposite Shraddha Kapoor.
